May 18th Newsletter

May 18, 2015

Parents,

The students were excited today when we announced this was their last Monday at school this year. They were a little less excited when we explained it’s because next Monday is Memorial Day and they will come to school Tuesday through Thursday next week (though Thursday will only be ½ of a day).  No matter how you look at it, they will only be an elementary student for a few more days.  After that, you have a middle school student!

Thank You!

I just wanted to say thank you for helping us have a great 4th Grade Farewell last week.  It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to a group of students, however I love bumping into them at school events and the community to see how they are progressing with their lives. Thank you for your help this year and for supporting your child’s education and future.

Library Books

It’s that time of year when the library is trying to account for any books that have not been turned in.  They are no longer checking out books so the librarians can inventory the library.  If your child still has a book they have not turned in you should receive a note that shares the title of the book along with the price (if it is not found).  Additionally, I cannot release your child’s final report card in the event a book is not found or has not been paid for.  If you have any questions about missing books please contact me through email danielchett@neoshor5.org

4th Grade BBQ

Tomorrow we plan to have our annual 4th Grade BBQ.  The forecast looks great!  A couple of weeks ago I sent a note notifying you about this event along with a couple of food items your child is responsible for bringing.  If you haven’t already, please send those items tomorrow. Also, we will be walking to Morse Park and back from Morse Park so it is important they were comfortable shoes and clothing.

We are also asking each student to bring a container to drink water from that is labeled with their name.  If they bring any equipment (ball gloves, bats, helmets, balls, Frisbee, etc.) they need to ensure the equipment is labeled with their name.  We promise to send your child home tomorrow wore out from playing all day so you shouldn’t face any resistance at bedtime.
